Anne's Randomness

All About Anne

New blog!!!

Please visit my brand new blog, still called Anne's Randomness, at -- all the old posts will remain here, but I'm trying for a fresh start! See you there!

Oops, story, and vacation

Well, that was unexpected. Please do pardon the VERY long gap between posts, O readers! An awful lot of things happened, most of which you already know if you're a follower of my Facebook page, so I won't bore you, but yes, here I am again, ready to charm and delight you (or startle and fright you) on the blog of Anne's Randomness!

Among the things that happened were some medical issues, which seem to be (slooowwly) resolving themselves, and, at last, some WRITING! Not just writing, but writing of new originals!

Something to think about

Good day to you, O readers. You might be expecting a usual Why Do I Work Here Wednesday blog post, but today is going to be a little different. I'm not quite sure where to start on this topic, so why don't I just take the advice of the esteemed Lewis Carroll, and begin at the beginning, go on until I reach the end, and then stop.

The beginning is my day job, which, as most of you know, is that of an administrative assistant at the financial services firm I am pleased to call Glass Bathroom Bank.

My greatest fear

Happy Halloween, O readers. One year ago today, I posted the last installment of the main Dangerverse. Who would have thought that one year later, I'd be... well, pretty much just where I was last year at this time, except more so. Things have changed, certainly, but mainly they have not changed for the better, I'm afraid. Let me explain.

As most of you know, I inherited from my father a tendency to light-sensitive migraines. What I did not know until recently is my mother's contribution.

Be careful what you ask for...

Good evening, O readers! Fair warning: this post contains religion. If you are not in the mood to read about religion, may I suggest coming back tomorrow, when the post for Fiction Friday will contain, appropriately, fiction? If you are in the mood, please, read on. It's not a preachy story, or a heavy one, so who knows? You might even enjoy it.

As anyone who's been around my writing fandom for a while will probably have figured out by now, I'm a practicing Roman Catholic, and have been all my life.

Working while petting cats

I'm sure you've heard of WWJD, What Would Jesus Do. But have you discovered WWPC, Working While Petting Cats? That big news I've been promising you finally came to pass, O readers. I have been approved by my boss to try out telecommuting one to two days a week, and my first day in the wonderful world of working remotely was today!

Now if you read my blog's randomness regularly, or pay attention to my Facebook randomness, you may be thinking this news is a tad bit overdue.

As soon as possible

So as some of you, O readers, already know, I have a fair-sized extended family, since both my parents have three siblings, and almost all of them are married with children of their own. Yesterday, I attended the wedding of the only cousin on my mom's side who's older than I am, her sister's only son. Why don't we call him Rich, just for fun.

Rich is a doctor, as is his new wife. The ceremony, their first dance, even the way they look at each other, all made it clear they're very much in love.

I'm baaack!

So I wanted to write a blog post on the occasion of my returning to work after my glorious and much needed ten days of vacation. Usually I am able to write and put up said posts at work, but apparently while I was out of the office my employer figured out I was doing so, and my blog site has now been blocked from my work computer.

I can’t blame them. I am, after all, here to work. It’s just that my work is episodic, with short periods of high activity and then breaks. Lots of breaks. And one can only organize one’s desk so often before one’s brain starts to implode.

Yours till Niagara falls

Also known as "How many sinks does one hotel room need?", "Anne and the roommate flee the country", and, "What I did over my long weekend".
Greetings, O readers, and I hope you're having a good week! Mine has been variable. I greatly enjoyed my stay in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada, but then I had to come back to the US and do work. Boo. Still, any vacation is better than none, and one day away from the office (yesterday) didn't leave me with too big a pile of emails.

The countdown commences

Greetings, O readers. We had our usual Why Do I Work Here Wednesday post yesterday, but today's post will be somewhat different. Today, my friends, is Why I Won't Be Working Here Anymore Thursday. Or rather, Why I May Not Be Able To Work Here Anymore After Another Year Thursday, but that's kind of long for everyday use.
Now nobody panic, please. (Including me.) This isn't going to happen immediately, if it happens at all, but it has put me on a bit of a deadline in terms of writing.
